Study Purpose: This study will determine if reducing systolic blood pressure more than is currently recommended can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Study Design: This study will test whether a treatment program aimed at reducing systolic blood pressure (SBP) to a lower goal than currently recommended will reduce cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk.
Study Qualifications
- Age: 50 and older
- Systolic blood pressure greater than 130
- At least one other risk factor for cardiovascular disease
