8:30 - 9:00 | Review of microscopes: Objectives, ocular, depth of field, field of vision, lighting sources Surgical instruments: List of necessary instruments, uses and non-uses of instruments, care and cleaning, sterilizing surgical packs |
9:00 - 10:00 | Review of chronic surgery: Aseptic technique, sterilization methods, suturing, catheter material and manufacture Anesthetics and planes of surgical anesthesia, monitoring, analgesics, respirators & ACUC requirements |

11:00 - 12:00 | Demonstration of the following: i) Intubation of rats and mice
ii) Isolation of vessels in mice
