Research Interests:

Tie2 is an endothelial receptor tyrosine kinase that plays an important role in angiogenesis and vessel stabilization.  Tie2 is often overexpressed on the vasculature of breast and other cancers, and its inhibition can prevent tumor growth.  My current studies focus on the mechanism of regulation of endothelial Tie2 expression by tumor cells, mural cells, and the cytokine Vascular Endothelial Growth Inhibitor (VEGI).  In addition, we are investigating the mechanism by which stimulation of Tie2 by its Angiopoietin-1 ligand stabilizes blood vessels.
