Announcing: 1st WFIRM-UCT Summer 2014 Scholars Training Exchange in Regenerative Medicine

WFIRM-UCT Summer Exchange

A key feature of this program will be an Afrocentric research approach. The training will occur over a 6-week period beginning June 30, 2014 and ending August 8, 2014. Eligible MSc and/or PhD students from the University of Cape Town (UCT) will be assigned to projects at WFIRM examining regenerative medicine-based approaches that are relevant to the African continent and the global community.

Program’s objectives include:

  • Exposing UCT MSc and PhD students to multidisciplinary research projects that address real-world clinical needs,
  • Developing ability to interact with other disciplines by providing training in a strong team-based environment,
  • Encouraging and developing the next generation of regenerative medicine global scientists and clinicians to explore the potential applications of regenerative medicine in South Africa,
  • Develop and establish an innovative model for international collaborative research and education and  strengthen regenerative medicine research and training relationships with the U.S. and South Africa,
  • Engender new knowledge and discoveries and promote development of a globally-engaged regenerative medicine workforce.
