WFU Primate Center - Mission Statement

Our Mission

The mission of the WFUPC is to conduct research on diseases of major public health significance, humanely using nonhuman primates and other animal models as patient surrogates.

To that end, the Center’s investigators seek to extend understanding of the pathobiological processes underlying clinical disorders and in particular to elucidate the environmental and genetic contributions to disease as seen in both sexes and across the lifespan.

Numerous departments are represented by researchers at the WFUPC, including Comparative Medicine, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, General Surgery, Urology, Pathology, Physiology and Pharmacology, and Public Health Sciences.
