Fellowship Opportunities
We are proud to offer 6 clinical fellowship programs.
Cardiothoracic Anesthesia
The 12-month fellowship experience can be tailored to meet the needs of both the future academician and private practitioner. Fellows will have 8 months of clinical cardiothoracic operating room experience, 3 months of dedicated transesophageal echocardiography, and 1 month in the cardiothoracic intensive care unit. Internal Medicine/Critical Care and Anesthesiology/Critical Care
The Adult Critical Care Fellowship Programs offered through the Department of Anesthesiology at Wake Forest School of Medicine include the Internal Medicine based Critical Care Medicine program and the Critical Care Anesthesia program. They allow fellows to tailor their education to the components of Critical Care that compliment and expand their previous training. Applicants with other specialty training are also considered. Fellowships continue for one or two years, depending upon Board requirements. LEARN MORE
OB/GYN Anesthesia
The Department of Anesthesiology offers 6-month and 1-year fellowship experiences in obstetric and gynecologic anesthesia. All deliveries in Forsyth County take place in the Sara Lee Center for Women’s Health at Forsyth Medical Center and the obstetric anesthesia services are provided by the Department of Anesthesiology of Wake Forest School of Medicine. Pain Management
Pain management fellows rotate between two specific services during their 12-month experience with the physicians of Carolinas Pain Institute. Fellows are immersed in the primary clinic rotation for 8 months of the year; the remaining 4 months are spent performing fluoroscopic procedures, surgical procedures, managing inpatient acute pain and chronic pain consults. Regional Anesthesia and Pain Management
Over the course of the 12 month fellowship in regional anesthesia and acute pain management, the fellow will enhance his or her cognitive, psychomotor, and affective skills to safely and effectively administer and teach regional anesthesia as a consultant in anesthesiology. The fellow will be responsible for decisions related to case and block selection to facilitate the smooth flow of OR cases and to enhance patient recovery. The fellow will be expected to have the skills needed to establish regional anesthesia and acute pain management as a primary component of his or her future practice in anesthesiology. LEARN MORE
