§  HSHPS Professional Development Workshop: Data Systems June 28-30, 2015 at the HHS/National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. The workshop aims to help prepare scholars interested in Hispanic health research strengthen their skills and knowledge to perform analytical studies of national health datasets to better contribute to Hispanic health care research and provision of adequate health care to Hispanics and other underserved populations.

§  NYU School of Medicine Funded Visiting Elective Program for Students Underrepresented in Medicine Application Deadline: June 1, 2015 (Attachment)

§  Essay Contest for First and Second Year Medical Students – Student Advocates for Neglected Diseases:Students are asked to write a reflection essay about a new relationship they've forged with a patient, family, or advocate affected by a rare or neglected disease within the last 12 months.  We're happy to help introduce interested students to patient communities in their area.  For such assistance, please email Carrie Ostrea, Advocacy Director, at carrieo@globalgenes.org

§  Simulation Education Fellowship at Mayo Clinic - The prospective candidate will have completed an advanced level degree in the field of medicine, nursing, pharmacy or other allied health disciplines.  Familiarization with simulation based medical education will be used as a factor for consideration in the selection process although not required. §  Emergency Medicine Healthcare Disparities Externship - The Denver Health Residency in Emergency Medicine and Department of Emergency Medicine at University of Colorado School of Medicine are offering an externship in clinical emergency medicine and research for the underserved. Applications Deadline: May 31, 2015. Selected externs will receive a $1500 scholarship for travel, lodging and other expenses, while completing a sub-internship at Denver Health and the University of Colorado hospitals and also a scholarly project that focuses on reducing healthcare disparities.
