Emergency Medicine

The Department of Emergency Medicine is a full academic department within the Wake Forest School of Medicine located in Winston-Salem, NC. Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center is the region's only tertiary care center and the teaching hospital for the Wake Forest School of Medicine as well as the home of our Emergency Medicine residency training program. The WFBMC Emergency Department has Level 1 designation for adult trauma and the co-located Brenner Children's Hospital Emergency Department is the state's only Level 1 pediatric trauma center. The department is also an accredited chest pain and stroke center. Wake Forest clinical affiliate faculty staff several emergency departments across the Piedmont Triad and high country including the Greensboro area, Lexington Medical Center, Davie Medical Center, Catawba Valley Medical Center, North Wilkesboro Regional Medical Center, and Wautauga Medical Center. Together our Emergency Medicine staff provide services to over 500,000 patients each year.
