Family Medicine Residency Program

A Message from the Residency Directors

Welcome to the home page for the Family Medicine Residency Program of Wake Forest School of Medicine. We are pleased to share with you the broad overview and specific details of our residency program. The over-arching goal of our family medicine program is to train outstanding family physicians.

Managed care, changes in health care finance, rapid advances in technology, and enhanced variation in patient's expectations of care have altered what is needed to be an “excellent family physician.” The changes occurring in medicine no longer allow a program to rest on a past history of excellence. At Wake Forest, we are dedicated to train physicians who will have mastered the current state-of-the-art of family medicine, but also have learned to adapt to the future advances that will inevitably come.

As a program that stresses diversity, allows residents to differentiate their skills, reinforces continued learning, and rewards the challenges of excellence, we hope to ensure a steady stream of outstanding family physicians to provide care for the future.
