Outpatient Clinics
The GI Section's main outpatient practice is located primarily in a spacious, state-of-the art facility housed in the Digestive Health Center (DHC). This facility is fully equipped and staffed for the outpatient management of digestive diseases. Fellows see new patients in this clinic under the supervision of the GI Faculty during the Ambulatory rotation. The collaborative spirit that exists at Wake Forest has allowed a joint venture between the Infectious Disease Department, namely Dr. Marina Nunez, and GI in establishing a Viral Hepatitis Clinic in the DHC area. As the Fellows' skill and knowledge advance, they are given progressive autonomy in the management of these patients.
A Fellows’ continuity clinic, located in the Richard Janeway Tower - Baptist Medical Center Clinic, allows longitudinal follow-up of patients with the Fellows serving as the primary health care provider with both in-house and volunteer community Faculty supervision. We also have a joint venture with Carolinas Medical Center Division of Gastroenterology - Transplant (Charlotte, NC) with Dr. Mark Russo in establishing a Cirrhosis Clinic in the Fellows' continuity clinic setting. A monthly HepatoBiliary Pancreas (HBP) Clinic is also held under the supervision of our HBP faculty specialists.
