Fellowship didactics prepare fellows for the Boards and for their future careers. The conference series have been developed to optimize adults’ specific learning styles and to provide a solid foundation for each fellow’s individual career plans. Key elements are listed below:

          Core Conference: Faculty present core topics for board review

          Case Conference: fellow-led discussion of challenging cases

          Journal Club: interdisciplinary conference where clinical and research faculty and fellows critically appraise current literature

          Aging Conference: the Aging Center’s “Grand Rounds,” these highlight emerging scientific findings.

          Research Series: the Department of Internal Medicine offers this series introducing IM specialty fellows to the resources at Wake Forest while
          reviewing the nuts and bolts of research.

          Medical Director Leadership Series: This special series reviews core topics in Medical Directorship in the long term care setting, including
          financing, quality improvement, and policy.

          Teaching Series: New for the 2015-2016 year, this series provides training in the approach to teaching in clinical and classroom settings.
          Opportunities to teach abound in the inpatient, ambulatory, and long term care settings.
