Dr. Andrew Farland is the Associate Director of the Hematology
and Oncology Fellowship Training Program of Wake Forest. He
completed his internship and residency in internal medicine here at
Wake Forest as well as his fellowship in hematology and medical
oncology. Dr. Farland was appointed as an Assistant Professor
of Medicine in July of 2012 and became Associate Program Director
of the Fellowship Training Program in March of 2013. He is
board certified in both hematology and medical oncology.
Dr. Farland's clinical interests lie in coagulation and benign
hematology. He is the Director of the Special
Hematology laboratory and Director of the Coagulation
laboratory. He is also Director of the laboratories
at our satellite clinics in Elkin, Mt. Airy and Statesville, North Carolina.
Having completed his own fellowship here at Wake Forest, Dr.
Farland has a unique perspective and personal insight into all
aspects of our fellowship training program. He served as
Chief Fellow while in training and received the North Carolina
Oncology Association Outstanding Fellow Award in 2012. Dr.
Farland has a keen interest in education. He regularly
attends and/or teaches the fellows noon conferences and also serves
as mentor and supervisor of the pathology resident rotation in
hematology and oncology.
