Resident Wellness for Internal Medicine Residents
The Internal Medicine Residency Program at WFBMC is dedicated to Resident Wellness. Residents and residency program leadership have joined efforts to develop a Resident Wellness Initiative to promote health and wellness in our residents. This Initiative is resident-centered and activities are driven by the needs and areas of interest as identified by our housestaff.
The Resident Wellness Initiative provides education and awareness for IM residents on various topics through social events, conferences, online resources and incentive programs. In addition, the Wake Forest Internal Medicine
Residency Program has a Wellness Committee, which is a group of residents
dedicated to promoting well-being throughout our program. The committee is
chaired by an associate program director and chief resident, and comprised of
residents from each year. We meet regularly throughout the year to plan
activities, conferences, and service projects in which our residents can participate. Some of the activities we have done in the past include an annual
progressive dinner, animal therapy for residents, crockpot cook-offs with
availability of recipe cards, financial wellness seminars, and providing baked
goods to the local hospice facility in Winston Salem.
