Leslie Alexander, MD

When I was finishing up medical school in Chicago, my husband and I were anxious to move back to the east coast, which is home to us both. I looked at programs in North Carolina given the close proximity to his family, and I fell in love with Wake Forest. Being from Massachusetts and never having lived so far from my own roots, I quickly found a home with my colleagues in the Internal Medicine program. Even from the day of my interview, the camaraderie was clear. I have enjoyed working in such a rigorous environment that presents new and exciting challenges every day. The patient variety has been excellent, whether pertaining to type of pathology or acuity of illness. I feel as though Wake Forest did a wonderful job of preparing me for a career as an Internist.

Leslie Alexander grew up in New Bedford, MA and completed her undergraduate education in biopsychology at Tufts University. She graduated from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in 2013 and completed Internal Medicine Residency at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in 2016. Leslie looks forward to the challenges of chief year and plans to pursue a career in Infectious Diseases. She is married and lives with her husband David, two cats and one dog. She enjoys cooking, traveling, and hiking at the many local trails and mountains of North Carolina.
