When I was finishing up medical school in Chicago, my husband and I were anxious to move back to the east coast, which is home to us both. I looked at programs in North Carolina given the close proximity to his family, and I fell in love with Wake Forest. Being from Massachusetts and never having lived so far from my own roots, I quickly found a home with my colleagues in the Internal Medicine program. Even from the day of my interview, the camaraderie was clear.  (read more)

When looking for a residency, my priorities were to find a program with strong clinical training to prepare me for my future career along with a vibrant scholarly environment in which to continue my pursuits in academic research. While these characteristics are certainly alive and well, the most enduring aspect of Wake Forest (and what clinched my decision to come here) is that the program manages to maintain these high standards but remain an exceedingly collegial and friendly environment. Pursuing my residency training at Wake Forest was truly one of the best decisions I have ever made. Coming from a small area in Louisiana, my wife and I were admittedly nervous about leaving family and friends behind; however, Wake Forest became home immediately upon arrival. During the residency interview process, I sought out a program which would allow me to grow into a knowledgeable, confident, well-rounded physician and Wake Forest has certainly prepared me to conquer any challenge I may be faced with during my career.    (read more)

I was beyond thrilled when I opened my envelope on Match Day and discovered that I would receive my residency training at my first choice, Wake Forest. Originally from south Georgia, I interviewed throughout the southeast and Wake certainly stood out amongst the others. I was quite impressed with the program's ability to retain a strength in academics whilst simultaneously supporting each resident in a personal manner.  (read more)

Having been born in Detroit, raised in Oklahoma and spent my educational years in Boston, coming to Wake Forest and Winston-Salem, North Carolina was quite the change. From day one, I knew that the change was exactly what I wanted and needed. The camaraderie is second to none and the Internal Medicine program specifically provides endless clinical, teaching and research opportunities.  (read more)
