Michael Tucker, MD

Mke Tucker

When looking for a residency program, there were several factors that I had to consider. My wife, who was pursuing a pediatric residency program at the time, and I wanted to find an institution with a strong internal medicine and pediatric program that was located in the south east. For me, in particular, I was looking for a program that would provide great primary care training, but also would give me exposure to various subspecialties to ensure I was making the best career decision.  Beyond residency, we were also new parents and needed to find a program that was in a safe, affordable, and family friendly community. When we came to Wake Forest on the interview trail, we knew it would be a great fit. Now looking back, I know that choosing Wake Forest was the best decision we could have made.  From day one, the clinical experience, teaching, and opportunities for career development through research and mentorship has been second to none. The family friendly atmosphere of the program and the city was also more than expected. In regards to the city, living in Winston Salem has been fantastic. There are numerous parks and activities for children and family throughout the city that makes Winston Salem a great place to live.

Michael Tucker is from St. Simons Island, Georgia, and did his undergraduate studies at the University of South Carolina. He completed his medical school training at the Medical University of South Carolina. At the conclusion of his chief year he plans to pursue a career in general internal medicine. His wife, Anna, completed her pediatric residency and will begin her practice at Thomasville Pediatrics in Thomasville, NC. Michael and Anna have two boys and enjoy spending time together outside, going to parks, Old Salem, or the various museums or activities available in the community.
