Lamonica Ames joined the Student Affairs team in 2014, and
serves as Project Coordinator for Years 1 and 2. Lamonica plays a pivotal role
in Years 1 and 2 and is actively involved in working with students to achieve
academic success and to improve student connections with Student Affairs. She
provides students with relevant resources and information needed for medical
school such as:
- Registration information for Step 1 and Step 2
National Board examinations.
- Assist with the student accommodations process.
- Coordinates, plans, and implements Years 1 and 2
student orientations and the White Coat Ceremony.
- Handles all attendance reporting and absence
request for various pre-clinical courses.
- Facilitate scrub access for all students.
- Assist students in obtaining parking and badge
- Assist students with room reservations in BGCME.
Lamonica strives to maintain student interaction on a
personal, professional, and academic level to ensure that The Office of Student
Affairs is meeting the students’ needs.
Before joining the Student Affairs staff, Lamonica was an
intern at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for the Strategic and Business
Planning department. As an intern, she shadowed Lynn Pitman and her team. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Health Care
Management at Winston Salem State University. Lamonica is interested in seeking
a Master’s degree in Health Administration with a concentration in Business
Administration by the year 2019, and believes that achieving this goal will help
her to serve and to provide support for medical students. In her free time,
Lamonica enjoys spending time with her daughter, Haven, and hanging out with
friends and family. She’s an active leader in her church and is the dance
coordinator of the liturgical dance ministry.
