 2014 Commencement Weekend     May 17 - 19, 2014  (click for PDF)

  • Graduation Banquet     Saturday, May 17, 2014
    Time:  5:00 - 9:00 p.m.
    Location:  Benton Convention Center

    The banquet is a semi-formal event. A heavy hors d'oeuvre
    and salad bar buffet will be available from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.,
    followed by award recognition, yearbook distribution, and
    concluding with a DJ and dancing.  Graduates and one guest
    attend at no charge. Additional tickets are available for
    purchase at $50.00 per person. Seating is unlimited.
    Invitations will be mailed to graduates' Medical Center mailbox.


    RSVP deadline is May 9, 2014.
    Reservations required.

  • Baccalaureate Service     Sunday, May 18, 2014 
    Time:  11:00 a.m.
    Location:  Wait Chapel

    The service is approximately one hour. Tickets are
    complimentary, but must be reserved. There is a limit of
    three (3) tickets per graduate. Seating is on a first-come

  • MD Hooding Ceremony     Sunday, May 18, 2014 
    Time:  4:15 p.m.
    Location:  Wait Chapel

    Candidates will be hooded by Dr. Vera Luther, Class
    Mentor. No outside participation allowed at hooding.
    Students please do not bring purses or cell phones to the
    ceremony. The ceremony should last approximately 1-1/2
    hours. Tickets are not required. Seating is unlimited.

  • 2014 Commencement Day     Monday, May 19, 2014

Commencement Exercises
Time:  9:00 a.m.
Location:  Hearn Plaza (The Quad)

Graduates should assemble in cap, gown, and
hood no later than 8:00 a.m. between Davis and
Taylor Residence Halls at the appropriate degree
sign. The Commencement Exercises last
approximately one hour. Tickets are required for
guests. There is a limit of eight (8) tickets per

MD Diploma Ceremony
Time:  Immediately following
          Commencement Exercises
Location:  Brendle Recital Hall
                The Scales Fine Arts Center

Immediately following Commencement at Hearn
Plaza, Marshalls will lead Faculty and graduates
to Brendle Recital Hall at The Scales Fine Arts
Center. Guests may simultaneously enter Brendle
through the main entrance and be seated by ushers.
Tickets are required for guests. There is a limit of five
(5) tickets per graduate. Tickets will be automatically
included with each graduate's commencement ticket

No reservation required.

MD Luncheon
Sponsored by the Medical Alumni Association
Time:  12:00 p.m., Noon - 1:30 p.m.
Location:  TBA

Invitations will be mailed to graduates from
the Alumni Association.

Additional Commencement Information

Regalia Orders

Regalia orders are placed online at www.herffjones.com/college/wfusm
at no charge to the student. Graduation announcements, class rings and
diploma frames are also available. Online ordering will open no later than
February 3, 2014 and closes at 12:00 p.m noon on March 14, 2014.
Regalia should be turned in immediately following the MD Diploma
Ceremony at Brendle Recital Hall. If regalia is not returned by 5:00 p.m.,
you may be assessed a late fee and your Residency paperwork will 
not be mailed to your Residency Program.

Ticket Orders

Tickets are required  and ordered from Wake Forest University at
www.wfu.edu/commencement/tickets. Online ticket registration
opens at 9:00 a.m. on March 3, 2014, and closes at 5:00 p.m. on
May 13, 2014. Only one (1) registration form is accepted for each 
graduate. Once an order is submitted online, subsequent attempts to 
register will not be accepted by the online registration page.

On-campus parking will be limited, and every vehicle must have a
Commencement parking pass to enter campus on Monday morning.
University police will direct guests to available parking. Additional
free parking will be available at BB&T Field. No pass is needed at
the stadium, and shuttles will run continuously to and from campus
beginning at 7:00 a.m. Either a Commencement ticket or a Wake
Forest ID is required to ride the shuttle. Two (2) parking passes will
be included with each graduate's ticket order. One (1) parking pass
may be exchanged for one (1) Special Needs parking pass at ticket

Rain Plan

If rain is likely, University officials will announce a decision regarding
the rain plan on the home page of the commencement website, on a
voicemail message at 336-758-5821, and on local radio (100 AM, 88.5 FM)
and television (WXII, Channel 12) stations.

If rain is likely to end in the early morning, Commencement may be
delayed until 9:30 or 10:00 a.m. in order to hold the program on
Hearn Plaza.

If the rain plan is put into effect, Commencement will begin at 9:30 a.m.
in Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Graduates must be at the Coliseum with their degree groups by 8:00 a.m.
The order of the ceremony will be the same. Immediately following, the
MD Diploma Ceremony will take place at The Scales Fine Arts Center on
the Reynolda University Campus.
