Message to Future Residents and Fellows

Welcome to the Department of Neurology  Residency web site. Within this section you will find information on the adult and pediatric resident programs and descriptions on the fellowships available in the Department of Neurology including vascular neurology, clinical neurophysiology, movement disorders, rehabilitation and additional study in the care of patients with Multiple Sclerosis.

All of the faculty in the Department of Neurology are actively involved in teaching the residents and fellows in our program.  All faculty rotate on the inpatient services and precept the outpatient resident clinics. Residents and fellows work side by side with individual faculty in their speciality clinics.  Every resident must perform a research project paired with an individual faculty mentor. Many of these projects have results in presentations at national meetings and publications.

The Department of Neurology  is dedicated  to the care of our patients. We believe in teaching future neurologists the state of the art care combined with the fostering the compassion to care for those with complex neurologic disease. The depth of our faculty in neurology subspecialties rivals any large academic department in the US. Our faculty hold leadership positions in their areas of expertise, many serving on editorial boards and teaching courses in their respective fields.

We are dedicated to teaching the next generation of neurologist, both clinicians and physicians scientists. We believe our focus on excellent in patient care combined with a robust research program provides residents with an excellent foundation for a lifetime of learning.

We look forward to meeting you this fall in Winston Salem.

Sincerely,
Allison Brashear, MD
