Fellowship Training

Director: Mustafa Saad Siddiqui, MD

The movement disorders and deep brain stimulation (DBS) program at Wake Forest is among the nation's busiest. This program has four movement disorder neurologists with further sub-specialized interests. Fellows will be trained under the supervision of Dr Allison Brashear, Professor and Chair of Neurology; Dr Francis Walker, Professor of Neurology and Director of Huntington’s Disease clinic, Dr Mustafa Saad Siddiqui, Assistant Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery, Director of Movement Disorders, Co-Director DBS program and Dr Ihtsham Haq, Assistant Professor of Neurology.

Training combines experience in:

1. Management of movement disorders in subspecialty clinics of Drs Siddiqui (DBS), Haq (DBS), Brashear (dystonia & spasticity) and Walker (Huntington's disease and choreas)

2. Intra-operative physiological brain mapping and microelectrode recording techniques for DBS surgeries with Drs Siddiqui and Haq. Both are fellowship training in these techniques.

3. EMG guided botulinum toxin therapy with Drs Walker and Brashear

4. Clinical research in dystonia, Parkinson's disease, Huntington’s disease and DBS.

Opportunities in basic science research are also available  

Requirements:
Applicants must have completed a residency in neurology in USA.
