Alumni

Our alumni are the best, and we are proud of you! You are out there representing us well, making an impact in nurse anesthesia and taking great care of your patients. We were excited to see one of our alumni, Janice Izlar (class of '76), take her position as President-elect at the AANA Annual Meeting in Boston this August.

ALUMNI MEETING

The 2011 alumni meeting was another great success! Our attendance was again over 100, as alumni came out for a day of fellowship, renewal of old friendships, and an enticing educational seminar.  We were pleased to award 5 $1,000 scholarships, courtesy of the Ruth Holleman scholarship fund, and the $2,500 Sandra Ouellette scholarship. We will have our regular biennial business and educational meeting in 2013, but also keep an eye out for a special event next year, as the program celebrates our 70th anniversary!

Alumni Comments

Read some of the things alumni and employers have to say about our program:

"I am proud of my WFBMC education and very pleased with the outcome/education. Very pleased this was the program I chose."  2009 graduate

"I feel we have had outstanding preparation. I feel very proud when I say 'I went to Baptist'."   2005 graduate

"Your program produces great graduates! "  Employer survey 2006

"One of our anesthesiologists is always saying 'I want to hire somebody like you, and the way that you were trained' so I take pride in my training.  It doesn't go unnoticed." 1998 graduate

"I want to thank you for giving me an opportunity to attend your program and giving me a new career for which I am so proud, and a new exciting life.  The intensity of these past years has helped me to become stronger and wiser and to have set high standards for education and being a role model for my children.  I am truly blessed in so many ways and have met so many wonderful people in these last two years. I am proud to be a graduate of Baptist."   2003 graduate

“This has been an amazing journey and I truly feel blessed to have been part of it all.  I look forward to the future and what it holds.”   2007 graduate

"Very strong, competent CRNA. Able to handle all types of case situations."    Employer survey 2006

"This is an intense, short program. It is difficult but not impossible. I chose this program for its reputation and intensity...it has lived up to what I expected. Having many different clinical locations was an asset to my education."  Student survey 2008

"After orientation, I seemed to feel comfortable in the role of anesthesia provider.  I believe the reason for that was the excellent preparation I received from WFBMC.  Thanks to all who had a role in my education."  2007 graduate

"The very first day of class, one of the very first things that the professor told us was that she did not want a “B anesthetist” taking care of her.  Her statement has stuck with me and it has pushed me to work harder and set higher goals for myself.  I don’t want to be just a good anesthetist, but a great one."   Student comment 2009

Giving Opportunities

One way we set our self apart from other programs is through the many nice "extra" experiences we afford to students to enrich their education. Facilitating service learning projects, mission work, and professional development through attendance at association meetings are some examples of these unique opportunities. These and many of our classroom and skills lab resources are made possible by the generosity of our alumni. And of course, our scholarship funds are very important sources of additional support for deserving students. If you are one of our many generous donors, thank you for your support. If you would like an easy method of making your tax-deductible donation, visit the alumni affairs office site here:  Make a Gift.

Recipients of the Ruth Holleman Scholarship meet to express their appreciation to the donor. Mrs. Holleman was a graduate of the class of 1947, and generously established a scholarship which benefits multiple students each year.
