The Office of Women in Medicine and Science's {formerly the Women’s Health Center of Excellence for Research, Leadership, Education} Leadership & Mentoring Program is pleased to announce the continued success of its professional development fellowship, the Career Development for Women Leaders (CDWL) Program, which began in January 2008. CDWL graduated its third class in March 2011, totaling forty-three graduates in all, from WFSM and several WFU Schools.

The CDWL fellowship is modeled after national programs for women in academic medicine.  The purposes of the cross-campus CDWL program are to provide:

  1. an affordable, university-based leadership development program for women who are either currently in or aspire to leadership roles at Wake Forest;
  2. a local, national level quality experience that allows more women to participate in leadership education; and
  3. a nurturing environment in which to bring women together from diverse professional backgrounds (theater, math, anesthesiology) to exchange ideas and foster cross-campus collaboration.

Presenters are nationally and internationally known experts, executive coaches and senior WFU faculty and administrators. All presenters are highly respected in their content areas.

Program Feedback has been excellent and recently, one of the 2011 Graduates posted this on her blog: http://cloud.lib.wfu.edu/blog/pd/2011/03/01/career-development-for-women-leaders-program/

2011-2012 Class:

The call for applications for the 2011-2012 class was sent out in early 2011, and again, generated much interest from women faculty, on both the Medical Center and Reynolda campuses.  Good luck to all the applicants.  You will be hearing from us soon!  This program will begin again in September 2011 and run through May 2012.
