Open Meadows Foundation is a grant-making organization for projects that are led by and benefit women and girls. It offers grants up to $2000 to projects that: (1) Are designed and implemented by women and girls; (2) Reflect the diversity of the community served by the project in both its leadership and organization; (3) Promote building community power; (4) Promote racial, social, economic and environmental justice; (5) Have limited financial access or have encountered obstacles in their search for funding. Organizational budget should not exceed $150,000. Small and start-up organizations are strongly encouraged to apply. Annual deadlines are February 15 and August 15. http://www.openmeadows.org
The Avon Foundation has launched an initiative called the Avon Breast Cancer Research Bridge Program to provide bridge funding to scientists with innovative concepts in breast cancer while they develop the pilot data necessary to seek funding from larger sources, such as the NIH or NCI. NIDA'S Women & Sex/Gender Differences Junior Investigator Travel Award Program for CPDD 2013: The Women and Sex/Gender Differences Program at the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) is soliciting applications for up to 30 travel awards to attend the 75th Annual Scientific Meeting of the College of Problems on Drug Dependence (CPDD) to be held in California, June 15-20, 2013 (www.cpdd.vcu.edu/). Two Foundations Join Forces for Women Veterans: With support from McCormick Foundation, Business and Professional Women’s (BPW) Foundation will host Join Forces for Women Veterans, a national Summit to raise awareness, create an action plan and launch a fund to help support solutions for women veterans who are challenged in their transition to civilian career, family, and community lives. The Design and Analysis Unit (DAU) is a new component of the Research Support Core in the Office of Research (OR). It is designed to provide collaborative advice and services in the areas of study design, data analysis, data entry, and data management. It is a collaboration between the OR and the Department of Biostatistical Sciences. DAU services include both pre-and post-award statistical work, and will be tailored to investigators’ needs. The Center for Scientific Review (CSR) is the portal for NIH grant applications and their review for scientific merit. They organize the peer review groups or study sections that evaluate the majority of the research grant applications sent to NIH.
