Residency Application Process

The Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency program is a four year training program.  We have twenty-four (24) RRC approved residency positions, six (6) per year.

Applications are received through the Electronic Residency Application Service  (ERAS).  Please note that any questions regarding ERAS should be directed to your Dean's Office/Office of Student Activities or the ERAS web site.

More information about the application process can be found on our medical center's house staff website including information for foreign medical graduates.

Completed ERAS application should include the following:

  • The ERAS common application form and accompanying photo
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Official medical school transcript
  • Personal statement
  • Current CV
  • USMLE Step 1 & 2 scores
  • Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE)

If you should have any additional questions regarding the application process, please contact Lorraine Smith, Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency Coordinator, at losmith@wakehealth.edu

Interviews

Invitations for interviews will be issued by means of an ERAS e-mail (starting in October and throughout interview process) if applications are complete. Interviews occur primarily during November-January. You will be notified of the available dates when you are invited to interview. A typical interview day would last from 8:00 am-4:00 pm and includes an introduction to the program from the residency director, personal interviews with residency director and faculty, lunch and informal time with current residents, and tour of the medical center, labor and delivery, and resident clinic sites.  Often, our current residents schedule a social event the night before the interview date.  We will notify you of the time and place when your interview is scheduled.
