Resident Life in Winston-Salem
Winston-Salem, NC is a vibrant city with an active arts and cultural scene, which offers both big city amenities and small town charm. Winston-Salem is located in the Piedmont Triad, approximately half way between the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. Winston-Salem hosts numerous year-round arts festivals and fairs including art gallery hops and a summer outdoor concert series. The city is also home to the historic Old Salem district chronicling local art and Moravian culture.
Wake Forest University, UNC School of the Arts, Salem College, and Winston-Salem State University are all located here. The Wake Forest University Demon Deacons compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference (A.C.C.) in N.C.A.A. Division I men's and women's athletics. The town also plays host to the ATP Professional Tennis Tour Event the Winston-Salem Open.
For the outdoor enthusiasts, Winston-Salem boasts nearly year-round golfing, abundant hiking, and beautiful public parks with running and biking trails. For active individuals, there are many opportunities to join running clubs, participate in tri-athlete training groups, and play in various sporting leagues.
