On-Call Format
Resident On-Call Format Summary
The call schedule will be assigned by the administrative chief resident, acting on behalf of the residency committee. An effort will be made to have the total calls for the year to be equal among the residents; however, it is impractical to expect the number of call days to be equal month to month and should not be expected. Request for off call days will be made to the chief resident by the fifteenth of the proceeding month, after which the call schedule will be assigned. Unexpected needs for off call days after the call schedule is assigned should be worked out among the residents involved and cleared with the chief resident. Any recurring problems or those not resolved with the chief resident can be forwarded to the resident committee by the involved residents for review of these concerns.
RESIDENT ON-CALL FORMAT (general template)
PGY2 - Every 5th Night - 1st Call
PGY3 - Every 5th Night - 1st Call
PGY4 - Every 4th Night - 2nd Call

If at anytime you are needed to perform a task you believe yourself unqualified for, you are to contact the senior resident on your back-up schedule, or the faculty on call as appropriate to be available and/or assist you in performing this task.
If at anytime a resident's work schedule is deemed too demanding to produce a physical (sleep) deprivation status sufficient to adversely work capability, the affected resident is to contact the senior resident or faculty on call and request relief, which will be arranged immediately.
