The program aims to provide broad-based education in Anatomic Pathology (AP) and Clinical Pathology (CP) for trainees to achieve competency to enter independent practice in any setting: academia, community practice, or private industry. The necessary skills, knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors outlined in the Program Goals and Objectives are acquired via didactic instruction, independent study, interaction with teachers, mentors, and role models, and most important, by assuming progressive levels of responsibility for patient care under supervision in an environment that promotes learning and professional growth. Members of the faculty consider residents junior colleagues and they are responsible for supervising residents and helping them to achieve these goals.
Competency as defined by the ACGME is multifaceted as reflected in the six competency domains listed they have defined. Click on the link to see our Program Goals and Objectives.
