Right from the Start: A New Program for New Faculty
"Right from the Start," a new year-long orientation program, has been created for new faculty by the Faculty Development Advisory Committee.
This program was developed to shorten the New Faculty Orientation session to a 3-hour period (scheduled for Dec. 10) and to allow more time for presentations relevant to faculty life here at WFSM, including expanded sessions on understanding the research mission, medical education, mentoring, the graduate school, and funds flow.
Below are the details of these sessions throughout the 2012-2013 academic year. Mary Lou Voytko, PhD, Associate Dean, Faculty Development, said, "We hope that new faculty will make the time to attend one of each session to benefit from this program, and to feel welcomed and become more knowledgeable about being a faculty member here at Wake Forest School of Medicine."
The program will also give new faculty an understanding of the policies and procedures of the Medical Center during this brown bag lunch series. Although "Right from the Start" is targeted for new faculty, all faculty are welcome to attend.
The sessions will be informal and interactive. They will be held in the Medical School Board Room on the first floor of the Gray Building just outside the Carpenter Library. Registration is required and each session is repeated twice. The sessions are:
