The Western North Carolina Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience established our “SYNAPSE Award” to honor members for their public outreach activity, especially related to neuroscience education.
Each year, the WNCSfN membership nominates individual members. And, through a rigorous selection process, the WNCSfN Executive Committee SYNAPSE Awardees based on the quality of the outreach and its lasting impact on our community.
Our 2009-2010 SYNAPSE Awardees are:
Allyson Bennett, PhD, Assistant Professor of Physiology & Pharmacology and Pediatrics – for her local and national animal research advocacy
Dwayne Godwin, PhD, Professor of Neurobiology & Anatomy and Assistant Dean of Postdoctoral Affairs – for his work with the WNCSfN, Wake Brain Awareness Council, and neuroscience education using internet-based outreach
Scott Dobrin and Elizabeth Glover, Neuroscience Program – for their work with the Wake Brain Awareness Council and animal research advocacy
