Confidential counseling, coaching, and consultation are available to students for a variety of concerns through Student Wellness. The reasons that students seek these services vary with some students simply wanting a sounding board and a place to safely vent, while other students want to gain insight and tools for managing the normative stress invoking experiences and relationships found in medical, graduate, and physician assistant school. There are also those students who seek help for issues that include but are not limited to depression, anxiety, disordered eating, substance abuse, burnout, personal adjustment and relationship issues. We provide individual, couple and group counseling at no cost to medical, graduate and physician assistant students. Sessions are confidential and by appointment only. Appointments are made directly with the center director. Student Wellness is typically open from 9 am - 7 pm Monday through Thursday, and 9 am to 5 pm on Friday. Every effort will be made to accommodate students’ schedules. Initial sessions last approximately 60 minutes and each additional session approximately 50 minutes. Email is generally the best way to contact the director for an appointment (jungerle@wakehealth.edu).
