Wake Forest Innovations is responsible for accelerating the commercialization of the ideas, discoveries and specialized research capabilities of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Wake Forest Innovations establishes arrangements with industry across a broad range of scientific and clinical research operations, including agreements for the development and commercialization of proprietary technologies and products, contracts to provide specialized preclinical and clinical research services, and agreements to sponsor basic scientific research.

Wake Forest Innovations Is Organized into Three Centers
Center for Technology Innovation & Commercialization deals exclusively with proprietary technology. This Center will move product ideas through the stages of technology evaluation, including IP protection, market analytics and preclinical and clinical development, culminating in potentially licensing of the technology to industry, including startups. The Center handles all proprietary technologies including therapeutics, vaccines, diagnostics, medical devices and digital health. The leader of the Center is Jeff Brennan, Vice President, Technology Innovation & Commercialization.
Center for Industry Research Collaboration deals exclusively with supporting faculty and staff in their engagement with industry to collaborate based on their specialized preclinical and clinical research skills and capabilities. The Center comprises two groups, Preclinical Translational Services and Industry Alliance Management. The leader of the Center is Chris Jerome, Associate Vice President, Industry Research Collaboration.
Center for Applied Learning offers advanced hands-on clinical training programs for faculty, student and external partners that are designed to enhance the quality of patient care and improve patient safety. The Center is led by its director Jim Johnson.
