Why is knowledge of religion important for success in the professions of law, business and medicine?  Scholars from WFU law, business and medical schools will address this question. In addition, Professor Stephen Prothero (Boston University), well known author of the best-selling Religious Literacy: What Every American Needs to Know-And Doesn't, will offer a response.

Participants include: Dr. Kathi Kemper, Director of the Center for Integrative Medicine at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center; Dr. Ram Baliga, John McKinnon Professor of Management, WFU Schools of Business; Dr. Ronald Wright, Professor of Law, WFU School of Law; and Dr. Stephen Prothero of Boston University.

Healing Touch Services and Training

Internationally Known CAM Leader to Speak at Wake Forest Baptist Health

Jonas, M.D., a 1981 alumnus of the Wake Forest School of Medicine, and an internationally known leader in the field of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), will deliver a lecture on November 4th as part of the school's alumni weekend activities.  Serving as the first Director of the Office of Alternative Medicine at the National Institutes of Health, he helped establish NIH NCCAM, and directed the Medical Research Fellowship at Walter Reed Army Institute of Research.

 

Dr. Jonas has written many books, and scientific articles on conventional and CAM topics, including the "Essentials of Complementary and Alternative Medicine" which serves as the key reference and authoritative book on the subject.

Healing the Brain, Healing the Mind  

http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv341/lazevedo/nicoe.jpgThe doctors at the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE), a new clinic for troops on the National Naval Medical Center campus in Bethesda, Maryland are tackling a complex interplay between traumatic head injuries (TBI) and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).  They specialize in diagnosing and treating the toughest cases of traumatic brain injury (TBI) and psychological health problems to arise from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.  NICoE takes an integrated approach to treating veterans with a "high-tech, high-touch" approach using the latest neuroimaging and virtual-reality equipment to assess patients while incorporating yoga, acupuncture, and art therapy for a more holistic approach.  Read more.  Excerpts from Science Magazine.

Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT) Unveils $48 Million Research Center
