Plan, devise, and deliver high-quality educational experiences to students in master and doctoral-level courses. Participate in program administration with regard to evaluating educational outcomes, identifying programmatic needs, and implementing new services. Qualifications include Master's degree in nursing, nurse anesthesia, or related field. Doctoral degree required by 2018. Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality classroom teaching.

Job Summary: Function in a highly specialized area of nursing as classroom instructor. Provide world-class education utilizing progressive and innovative techniques to foster effective learning. Plan, devise, and deliver high-quality educational experiences to students in master and doctoral-level courses. Participate in program administration with regard to evaluating educational outcomes, identifying programmatic needs, and implementing new services.

Education / Experience: Master?s degree in nursing, nurse anesthesia, or related field. Doctoral degree required by 2018. Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality classroom teaching.

Reports To: Nurse Anesthesia Program Director

Licensure, Certification and / or Registration: Curent NC RN licence. Certification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists. Current BCLS and ACLS certification.


Essential Functions:

1. Deliver didactic teaching, to include classroom instruction, course coordination, and oversight of guest lecturers.
2. Participate in formulation of student assessment tools and evaluation of student performance.
3. Participate in development and delivery of innovative and progressive teaching techniques.
4. Provide laboratory teaching, to include devising and implementing simulated patient care scenarios and evaluating student performance in those scenarios. Provide instruction in the skills laboratory, standard patient assessment lab, and other non-classroom areas.
5. Mentor and advise students on their academic progress and development, including manuscript preparation, capstone and research projects.
6. Participate in the development, design, and revision of the academic curriculum.
7. Serve on administrative committees, admissions/interview committee, program governance activities, and student advising.

Skills and Qualifications:

Communication skills including verbal, non-verbal, and listening skills.
Good technical skills in performing various clinical procedures.
