Research
Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center is recognized throughout the Piedmont and western North Carolina as the place to seek treatment for serious illness or injury. Alongside those who provide that care, the Wake Forest School of Medicine trains doctors who will serve our community—and others around the world—in the future.
Yet research—perhaps the least understood dimension of what we do—is really the driving force of what we are all about. It is the distinguishing trait of an academic medical center.
That research takes many forms—from basic science laboratories to clinical trials of new drugs to population studies that contribute to health policy debate and identify new subjects for further investigation.
The Role of Philanthropy
The mission of the Office of Development and Alumni Affairs is to raise private financial support for Wake Forest Baptist to enhance patient care, education and biomedical research.
You may know already a specific disease or health problem for which you would like to provide support for ongoing research. You may just be innately curious and eager to learn about opportunities to help researchers at Wake Forest Baptist.
Whether the problem is cancer, diabetes, multiple sclerosis or a host of other human ailments, the key to solving the riddle behind it is research. The path to scientific discovery is rarely straight, but it is a journey Wake Forest Baptist is committed to taking. It is why we need your support in tandem with other resources like the National Institutes of Health and other governmental agencies, corporations and foundations.
