Question: What brought you to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center?
Answer: I came to the Medical Center four years ago to complete my residency training in Family Medicine. After that, I decided to take a permanent position because Wake Forest Baptist truly became my home.
To me, Wake Forest Baptist provides the best of all worlds: It is an academic medical center with community focus and commitment. The Medical Center has given me the opportunity to practice medicine and teach residents and students, something I think is very important. In addition, Wake Forest Baptist has a wonderful team approach to medical care, and this is supported by excellent physicians, specialists, nurses and other staff members.
Q: What are your clinical specialties?
A: My specialties are adolescent medicine, pediatrics, adult and child care, procedural medicine, family medicine and women's health.
Q: What is your patient care philosophy?
A: I believe in developing an open and trusting patient-physician relationship. This is the foundation of medical care, especially primary care. In addition, I think patients should be actively involved in decision making about their care. Having this team approach leads to better long term patient outcomes.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working with patients?
A: Because I'm a "people person," I like developing relationships with all my patients. I really enjoy the opportunity to get to know my patients and their families. There is nothing I love more than to take care of an entire family - from grandparents to grandchildren.
Q: What fun facts should we know about you?
A: I was born and raised in a small town in northeastern Ohio. I have a large extended family (23 first cousins) so family is very important to me. I enjoy reading, scrap booking, and almost anything that is outdoors-related. But most of all, I love spending time with my husband, seven-month old daughter, and dog.
