Urologic Oncology

Urethral and Renal Pelvic Cancer

Urethral cancer is a rare form of tumor that grows in the urethra, that tube that brings urine from the bladder to outside of the body. The urologic oncologists at Wake Forest Baptist Health are experts in treating this cancer, as well as surgically reconstructing the urethra.

Treatment for Urethral Cancer at Wake Forest Baptist Health

The best treatment for urethral cancer is typically multimodality therapy including surgery, performed by our expert urologic surgeons here at the Comprehensive Cancer Center. This may include radiation, chemotherapy and surgery. If the urethra is removed, our surgeons will try to reconstruct a new urethra using other tissues from the body.

Treatment for Renal Pelvis Cancer in North Carolina

Renal pelvis cancer is cancer that forms in the pelvis of the kidney, the part where urine is collected and moved into the ureters. It is a rare form of kidney cancer. See the anatomy of the kidney.

Surgical treatment for renal pelvis cancer is the best option for most patients, particularly with advances we have made in minimally invasive approach using robotic surgery at Wake Forest Baptist Health.
