PUBLIC HEALTH SCIENCES - SOCIAL SCIENCES

Part-time Regular, 16 hours per week

FUNCTION OF JOB

Under general supervision, plan, implement, and provide physical exercise component of a research or clinical program.

CHARACTERISTIC WORK

1. Administer physical activity programs for a variety of special populations and clinical programs.

2. Review participant medical records, assess risks, and develop individualized exercise plans.

3. Perform a wide variety of fitness assessments as necessary to determine an appropriate exercise plan.

4. Monitor participant adherence to the physical activity prescription.

5. Consult with participants regarding risk factor management for cardiovascular disease, diabetes, osteoarthritis, or other identified factors.

6. Prepare and deliver cognitive-behavioral counseling lectures to participants.

7. Maintain records reflecting participant progress. Record and update exercise evaluations and distribute as necessary.

8. Assist in the development of study protocols.

9. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

SUPERVISION GIVEN AND RECEIVED

Oral and/or written instructions are received from supervision. Provide direction and guidance to support personnel.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelors or Master's degree in Health and Exercise Science, or related field

2. Certified in CPR

3. Proven experience in delivering physical activity programs to populations with varying levels of physical function.

4. Strong computer skills.

ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

1. Certified Exercise Specialist by the American College of Sports Medicine
