Regular full-time 8 hr. day shift with every third weekend rotation. Current NA I listing and CPR certification required. Minimum of 1 year experience in Behavioral Health or related Human Services required. Bachelors degree in Sociology and Psychology preferred.
Must have at least 1 year experience in Behavioral Health or related Human Services work along with at least two years of college. Prefer experience with children and adolescents.
Excellent communication skills a must.
Work schedule is 8 hour days working every 3rd weekend. JOB SUMMARY:
Provides direct and indirect care to psychiatric patients specific to the age of the patient as delegated by the assistant unit nurse manager, primary or associate RN. Develops therapeutic relationships with patients and family members in individual, group, and community living situations.
High school diploma, Associate?s degree, or Bachelor?s degree in Human Services (i.e., Psychology, Mental Health Technology)
Approved Nurse Aids Level I course, successful completion of two years in a Bachelors Preparation Accredited Nursing Program, current enrollment for a Nursing degree
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION and/or REGISTRATION:
Listed with the NC Department of Facilities Services as NAI
1. Provides care for patients
2. Ensures a secure and safe patient environment by following policies, procedures, and standards of care
3. Assists the nursing staff in providing a caring, compassionate environment
4. Utilizes effective communication skills when interacting with patients, co-workers, visitors, and physicians, and other department personnel
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrate excellent communication skills (verbal and non-verbal)
Exhibit positive interpersonal relationships
Demonstrate writing and spelling skills
Ability to provide and direct and indirect patient care in accordance with age/developmental, unit specific standards of care.
Exposed to infection disease-bearing specimens
May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases
Regularly exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases
Occasionally exposed to radiation hazards
Exposed to housekeeping/cleaning agents/chemicals
Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances
Subject to many interruptions
Occasionally subjected to irregular hours
May have to physically constrain/restrain agitated patients
