PHARMACY CLINICAL COORDINATOR 6600

FUNCTION OF JOB

Responsible for the overall operation of the departmental pharmacy in addition to performing pharmaceutical services related to the preparation and dispensing of drugs and other pharmaceutical supplies in accordance with physicians' prescriptions; advise physicians and patients regarding the proper usage of prescribed drugs.

CHARACTERISTIC WORK

1. Oversee and maintain the operation of the pharmacy ensuring proper controls, adherence to policies, and adequate coverage.

2. Prepare, label and dispense drugs and other pharmaceutical supplies in accordance with physicians' prescriptions; ensure compliance with Federal, State and Local laws and regulations pertaining to the dispensing of drugs and narcotics and the maintenance of required records.

3. Compile charges for prescriptions filled; maintain accountability and cost records on drugs and pharmaceutical supplies prepared and dispensed.

4. Maintain interface with medical staff to provide information pertaining to new pharmaceutical supplies, drug usage and compatibility and new regulations regarding drug controls.

5. Evaluate and recommend patients for self-medication procedures; instruct patients in the proper usage of prescribed drugs and make rounds with physicians to evaluate patients' progress.

6. Compound, package and label ointments, solutions and other bulk pharmaceutical supplies in accordance with standard formulas; mix prescribed drugs with intravenous solutions as required.

7. Maintain inventory and stock drugs and supplies as required.

8. Make work assignments; review work of support personnel; train new personnel.

9. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND GIVEN

Oral and/or written instructions are received from supervision. Provide guidance and direction to support personnel.

2. Unencumbered pharmacy licensure in the state of North Carolina.
3. Five years of experience as a pharmacist.
