Can you help in the fight against ALS? Yes!

ALS is a disease that everyone dreads, but the Wake Forest School of Medicine (WFSM) ALS Center aims to change this. We provide expertise, equipment and emotional support to prolong independence and improve quality of life during ALS Clinic. But our commitment to helping ALS patients runs deeper.

The clinical scientists and basic researchers have partnered to form the WFSM ALS Center to pursue the reasons why people get ALS and develop new tools to fight ALS. It is clear that we are not going to make major advances in treating ALS until we understand why it starts, why it spreads from one part of the body to another and why treatments that work well in animals do not work in humans.

At the ALS Center, basic researchers have joined the medical doctors that treat ALS patients to design experiments that explore these questions in actual ALS patients. Donations to the ALS Research Fund are used to start pilot projects, maintain animal colonies and perform patient-oriented research.

We encourage you to fight this disease with all your strength and hope you will consider how research is critical to your fight against ALS.
