Neurorehabilitation

The Program in Rehabilitation at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center includes a wide variety of comprehensive inpatient and outpatient programs.

Intensive hospital inpatient rehabilitation care is provided at the Sticht Center on Aging and Rehabilitation located on the main campus of the Medical Center. The 27-bed general Rehabilitation Unit treats patients with both neurological and musculoskeletal disorders including stroke, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, multiple trauma, major joint replacement and a variety of other conditions.

The Sticht Center includes spacious state-of-the-art gym facilities and many other unique features including an indoor therapy pool, a horticulture room and special discharge planning apartments.

The Rehabilitation Program of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center includes physicians academically based in the Departments of Neurology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Family Medicine, Plastic Surgery and the Section on Geriatrics. Non-physician members of the rehabilitation team include rehabilitation nurses, social workers, physical therapists, occupational therapists, recreational therapists, dieticians, neuropsychologists, counseling psychologists and chaplains.
