Davie County Hospital Awarded Accreditation By Joint Commission

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Davie County Hospital has achieved accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations as a result of its demonstrated compliance with the Joint Commission’s nationally recognized health care standards. The accreditation is effective for three years.

"The Joint Commission’s accreditation further underscores our commitment to serving the health care needs of our community to the best of our ability," said Lynne T. Doss, R.N., hospital administrator. "I am proud of our physicians and staff for their tenacity and hard work."

Founded in 1951, the Joint Commission is dedicated to continuously improving the safety and quality of the nation’s health care through voluntary accreditation. The Joint Commission’s on-site survey of Davie County Hospital occurred in January.

Davie County Hospital admitted its first patient on March 1, 1956. As a Critical Access Hospital, it offers emergency care and inpatient nursing care and a range of services including:

  • Medical specialists in neurology, orthopedics, podiatry, ear, nose & throat
  • Inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures
  • GI lab and endoscopic procedures
  • Long-term "swing beds"
  • Comprehensive Radiology Department
  • Medical laboratory
  • Cardiac testing center
  • Community Alternatives Program for the elderly and disabled
  • Occupational health services
