Brenner Children’s Hospital To Move Greensboro Clinic and Offer New Services

WINSTON-SALEM – Officials at Brenner Children’s Hospital will move its Greensboro outpatient clinic offices and offer expanded services, beginning in July.

The new location will be 802 Green Valley Road, Suite 106 on the first floor of the Prudential Piedmont Triad Properties Building (across the street from The Women's Hospital of Greensboro). The new 2,700-square-foot clinic is a collaboration of Brenner Children’s Hospital and Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center subspecialists in pediatric cardiology, pediatric gastroenterology, urology, medical genetics, maternal-fetal medicine and reproductive endocrinology.

New services to be offered at the clinic include fertility care provided by fertility specialist Tamer Yalcinkaya, M.D. Yalcinkaya joined Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center’s obstetrics and gynecology department in Winston-Salem last year. Before joining the Medical Center, Yalcinkaya founded two in-vitro fertilization (IVF) programs at West Virginia University, and directed them for 14 years. Between 2000 and 2005, he performed close to 2,000 IVF procedures at West Virginia University with a 65 percent success rate – a rate well above the national average -- among women under 35.

“Our goal is to provide the best care to women in Guilford County struggling with infertility issues,” Yalcinkaya said. “We hope by offering this service in a convenient location, we can reduce the stress associated with infertility.”

Pediatric gastroenterologists staffing the clinic include John Fortunato, M.D., Ivor Hill, M.D., Michael Glock, M.D., and Rick Caicado, M.D. The clinic will offer a range of diagnostic and therapeutic services to children with intestinal, pancreatic, liver and nutritional disorders.

Pediatric cardiologists staffing the clinic include James Cnota, M.D., Karen Raines, M.D., Wesley Covitz, M.D., Derek Williams, D.O., and Amanda Cook, M.D.

Pediatric cardiologists treat a variety of conditions including congenital heart disease, acquired heart disease in children, heart murmurs, arrhythmias, genetic syndromes associated with heart disease, hypertension, lipid abnormalities, chest pain and problems with losing consciousness, said Covitz.

Dr. Cnota will be working in collaboration with maternal-fetal medicine, caring for women with high risk pregnancies and their unborn children. Cnota’s expertise is fetal echocardiography. He will be able to diagnose and treat cardiac problems in infants before birth. The new clinic will also be offering echocardiograms with a physician referral by appointment three days a week.
