Suzanne initially became interested in RT working with autistic children at a special population camp in Virginia Beach. She has worked as a recreational therapy professional since 1989 at Wake Forest Baptist Health, including adult psychiatry, medical/surgical, trauma, and cardiac care.
A native of Norfolk, Virginia, Suzanne is licensed in RT by the state of North Carolina (LRT) and certified at the national level (CTRS). She is a graduate of Radford University with a B.S. in Recreation and Leisure Services (Therapeutic Option) and a Masters of Arts and Liberal Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Suzanne is current member of the North Carolina Recreation Therapy Association (NCRTA) and the American Therapeutic Recreation Therapy Association (ATRA) www.atra-tr.org. She has served as a Board member for NCRTA in the roles of Secretary, Treasurer and Member at Large. Past Mental Health Treatment Co-chair for ATRA 1999-2001. Has served on the Board for ATRA as Member-at-Large for 2002. In 1999 Suzanne published “Introduction to Writing Goals and Objectives:A Manual for Recreation Therapy Students and Entry-Level Professionals”.
During her free time, Suzanne enjoys volleyball, all sports, gardening and going out with friends.
