The Mission of Bowman Gray Child Guidance
Child Guidance, a non-profit United Way Agency within the Wake Forest Baptist Health Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, provides mental health services to indigent children ages 3 through 17 and their families from Forsyth, Stokes, and Davie counties. The services provided include comprehensive multidisciplinary evaluations, initial screening and referral to appropriate resources, individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy/ social skills training, parent training, school consultation and pharmacotherapy. We also provide specialty evaluations and treatment of sexually abused children.
For Our Parents
Children's records are protected by NC State Mental Health Law and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996). Information can not be released about your child without specific authorization from the parent/legal guardian. Information may be released without consent when a child is endangered or neglected, or a child discloses that he/she might be hurt, contemplating hurting themselves, someone else might be hurt, or someone else may hurt themselves.
Patients that receive Medicaid need to be referred by their pediatricians. Patients that have other insurances must be referred by the New Patient Scheduler and Coordinator. Call 336.716.5531 and ask for assistance.
Payment and Fees
The department accepts most private insurances and mental health plans. Please contact your insurance to find out if WFBH is a provider. Medicaid and NC Health Choice are also accepted. Co-payments are expected at each office visit. Sliding scale fees for services are offered if the department is not an authorized provider.
