Advantages of Gamma Knife Radiosurgery

Why choose Wake Forest Gamma Knife Center over other Gamma Knife or radiosurgery providers? Here are 3 reasons:

  • We are among the highest volume Gamma Knife Centers in the U.S. Our experience helps our Gamma Knife experts treat even the rarest and most difficult cases that smaller providers may not see.
  • Our Leksell Gamma Knife® Perfexion machine is the most accurate and advanced radiosurgery technology available. This state-of-the-art Gamma Knife machine can make treatment faster. That’s because it’s completely automated, unlike older machines that require patients to be moved manually from one position to the next. And, with the advanced treatment planning software and roomier interior of the Perfexion machine, we can treat cases that other Gamma Knife providers can’t, such as pituitary tumors, tumors at the base of the skull and tumors on opposite sides of the brain.
  • We were the first Gamma Knife center in the country to use 3T MRI for planning. By using 3T MRI, instead of 1.5T MRI, we can scan faster and with higher detail. With clearer images of the brain, our radiation planning and targeting are as precise as possible.
