Long Study Name: Aspirin in Reducing Events in the Elderly

Study Type: cardiovascular and memory

Study Purpose

 The ASPREE study will explore whether a low daily dose of aspirin can help prevent conditions such as heart disease and dementia in older adults, extending their disability-free years of life.

Study Design

  • Random (by chance) assignment to receive either a low daily dose of aspirin or a placebo (inactive medicine).

Study Qualifications

  • Age: 65 and older
  • In good general health

Study Duration

  • Up to 5 years
