The Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Diseases Research Center (AMDRC) officially launched on July 1, 2013. The mission of the AMDRC is to coordinate and facilitate cross-campus, inter-departmental and multidisciplinary basic, clinical and translational research that has the common goal of improving the lives of people suffering from arthritis and musculoskeletal diseases.
In the coming year, the goals of the AMDRC are to build a critical mass of members to integrate, facilitate and promote outstanding arthritis and musculoskeletal disease research at Wake Forest, increase the public awareness of Wake Forest's research in arthritis and musculoskeletal diseases and promote the education of the next generation of researchers. To achieve these goals we plan to fund pilot projects, sponsor seminars, provide biostatistical support for selected projects, and develop a website.
The AMDRC aims to have a diverse multi-disciplinary membership that will facilitate the development of a range of projects from basic to clinical to community-based research. Criteria to become a member of the center includes:

- an interest in contributing to the center by service as a pilot project reviewer, seminar speaker, community speaker, or mentor.
