Summer 2014 Program Details
Selected students are provided a competitive stipend for their participation in the 10-week program. A variety of activities for mentors and summer scholars include a welcoming reception during the WFIRM summer picnic, two day orientation, lab safety training, laboratory animal training and seminars on alternating topics in regenerative medicine to provide students a broad foundation of regenerative medicine principles and contemporary topics. Students are also provided support in honing their skills associated with providing scientific presentations, writing and publication skills and gain laboratory experience in basic techniques to improve their lab proficiency and learn to work in groups to design and accomplish an experimental goal. For the bulk of the 10-week program, students become immersed on a research project in a faculty lab receiving appropriate guidance from their faculty mentor and graduate or post-doctoral students in the lab. Students perform their own research and data analysis and present their findings at a formal scientific poster session at the conclusion of the program. Figure 1 below provides an overview of WFIRM faculty research interests in which summer scholars will become engaged.

- Comparative Analysis of Cell Printing and Cell Spraying of Autologous Skin Cells onto Large Skin Wounds
