Research Interests: Diabetes, cardiovascular disease, inflammation. Perform research on the subject of arachidonic acid metabolism

Awards: 
Lipid Sciences Training Grant appointment 2011-2013

Ayana won a cash prize in an online competition. The competition was "World of Betters" sponsored by Western Union. She plans to use the money through the Black Graduate Student Association (of which she is president) for an educational awareness seminar for underrepresented students of all ages called Who Runs The World (Nerds). The seminar will be an interactive way to eliminate the stigma that "nerds" are not cool and introduce them to careers that anyone can achieve.

Extracurricular:

Elected President of the Black Graduate Students Association of Wake Forest University.
